Muppet Mogg

Mogg is an utter cretin. This is what you get rejecting the advice of experts. Add Gove to that list of cretins.

The consultant neurologist who clashed with Jacob Rees-Mogg over contingency plans for a no-deal Brexit has challenged the politician to report him to the General Medical Council.

David Nicholl, who drew up a risk register of epilepsy and neurology drugs for the government’s Operation Yellowhammerplans for no deal, said he was not going to take lessons from a “muppet” who had no medical qualifications.

If he has got doubts about my probity, I am more than happy to be referred to the GMC,” said Nicholl.

“I am not bothered about Jacob Rees-Mogg. I’m not going to take a single word of health lessons from a muppet like him. What does he know about epilepsy or neuropathic pain?” he added.

“What I am worried about is my patients. To suggest I am wrong in what I say is defamatory. When, as I have done, I look people in the eye and say some of the drugs they are on might be in short supply and who are understandably worried, what he says about me is ridiculous.”

Didn't know he had a thyroid problem. (he is a knobhead though)

Really - so the possibility of no-deal has only just surfaced?

It was mentioned as far back as 2016 - prior to the vote indeed a treasury report dated 2nd March 2016 outlined the possibility.

'outlined the possibility'

is not

'in the pipeline'

well done for trying though :ROFLMAO:

Because it was (and may well still be) a possibility.

Certainly three years ago it was a possibility as were quite a few other options

Therefore it has been one of a number of options in the pipeline for three years.

It wasnt in leave campaign.
Farage etc all tslked of a deal

And you are carefully twisting.
Lots of things are a possibility, that does not mean in the pipeline.

It's May's fault; or the people who can't read English. She said "No deal is better than a bad deal".

As 'no deal' is not a thing, that sentence means a bad deal is the best she could get. I.e. there is not a deal that is better than a bad deal.

No deal has never been proposed or touted as an option.

But is has been discussed as a possible outcome for over three years - albeit that I would hope that neither the EU or the UK would want it to be the outcome.

Sadly we (the inhabitants of the EU) are at the mercy of politicians playing (literally) brinkmanship games.

Whoever had failed to adequately plan for what has been in the pipeline for three years.
No deal effects have been kept quiet by Brexiteers and its likely effects had to be leaked to the press and only after our own brexiteer Tory government requested such a report from civil servants. In fact brexiteers often trumpet "project fear" when mentioning the effects of a no deal scenario.

How does a doctor prepare for something that the Brexit brigade describe a myth?

But you lot said the effects of a no deal are just a myth. Project fear you lot say.
How does a doctor prepare for something you lot will say won't happen?

Well on the basis that I've never said it won't happen I'm not one of "you lot".

But I would have thought that, as the doctor in question was part of the operation to identify risks resulting from the 'Leave' vote result he would have considered the possibility that it might.

That's the point. The doc expressed his worry about the scarcity of drugs should a no-deal scenario become real. Mogg and his fellow deniers accuse him of scaremongering. Then you come along and say why hasn't the doc taken no-deal seriously.

Really? FFS!

if you ask me what would happen if a seriously ill person was denied their medication, and I replied....... "they would probably die". Does that make me a medical expert?

No.

You are repeating what Rees Mogg said because it sounded clever.

Well it may sound plaussble buts is in reality wrong.

This is why:

1. Doctor writes assessment of medicines
2. Report returned to civil servants
3. Civil servants write report
4.civil servants send to government
5 governments responsibility to mitigate medicine shortage.

Why do you think it would be within a doctors remit to sort out supply chain issues caused by a no deal sh!!storm.......

The doctor should stick to what he was trained to do and leave the logistics to the professionals.
In the last war spreading alarm was an offence.
