Glass splashback

So I measured carefully and ordered the splashback for the back of the hob.

It is to sit between two wall units - it's tight between them. I know there's meant to be a 2mm expansion gap - I can get this easily at the top and bottom - but not side to side.

Is it likely to explode eventually due to no expansion gap at the sides?

Not sure if it makes any difference, but it's an induction hob I have

I'm starting to wish I'd never started redoing the kitchen...................

I have exactly the same set up, Alison.....so long as you don't have to 'beat' the slashback into place , all should be fine. No probs with mine, anyway - induction hobs seem to keep the heat pretty localised.

Thank God for that. The splashback is the exact size of the gap between the two units so it fits in - just no expansion gap. Sadly, it's 4mm wider than what I actually ordered. I seem to be lurching from one problem to another with this sodding kitchen.

I know, but to minimise the trauma I'm going through, if it'll be OK, I'll just use it. It's amazing all the faults you find when you do things like take tiles off walls. It's been one thing after another.

Just checked mine.....I can get a finger nail in the gap at the sides but no more, and its been good for 12 months now.
I fixed it with mirror screws and domes - just tight enough to hold.
The hob is off now but I'll check it tomorrow after use.
Amazing bits of kit, these hobs.....reaction time is quicker than gas. Unbelievable.

Thank you. Thankfully, I don't use my hob much. In fact, I don't really cook much lol
