I dont know, Ive not grown runner beans in Stralia.

The beans follow the rotation of the earth. Looking down from the north pole.

Looking up from the south Pole the world turns clockwise. So do the beans.

Sheep have learnt to roll over cattle grids

Whats amazing is it happened simultaneously around the world.
(Except Durham, creatures cant learn new things there :ROFLMAO:).

A phenomena shown as morphic resonance.

To be more precise, plants (including sunflowers, Jerusalem Artichokes, and fast-growing climbers, follow the light of the sun as it appears to travel through the sky.

Clocks are designed to follow the movement of the shadow on a European sundial. Hence "clockwise" means "sunwise"

Australian sundials are not the same as European sundials.

What happens at night? Do they continue around the dark side or go back the way they came ready for the morning?

And - what is clockwise about a runner bean?

Apparently runner beans are the only ones that grow clockwise, the rest of the bean family go anti-clockwise, contrary buggers. Just been reading! Soz Notch, it's the other way round.

I do know that sunflowers over the night return to face the sun, ready for when it comes up. It's to do with the insects apparently, so it's thought. Insects need the sun to get warm and plants need the insects to pollinate, so the warmer the flower, the more insects that will visit and the longer they visit for. I was reading about that this summer as had a load of sunflowers in the garden this year and noticed they changed position at night. Nature is rather smart innit!
