Yes, so let's rake in some cash to splurge by selling off some of our vast reserves of gold now that prices are so high. What's that you say ? There's not much left ? Sold off for HOW MUCH ? Which fool was daft enough to do that ?
Nothing compared to brexit

It wasn't Blair. I know us mere mortals are worser off now than then. Things in general were far more stable under a
Central Labour Govt, nothing like this shower we have now for a Govt.

So you thinks its wrong to sell off assets.

Mmm you are sounding pro nationalisation.

Do you think it's wrong
Strategically, selling the gold was probably a good decision, many countries were doing it for diversification

Tactically, terrible it was rock bottom price.

The money I think was invested in US treasury stocks, so the loss overall wasnt as great as those stocks earnt interest.

Regarding public ownership vs privatisation - I believe it is better for the state to own and invest in infrastructure assets, its builds for the future and protects against foreign interests. Or put another way: would you prefer to own your house rather than sell it off and pay rent.

I agree with the later but I've never claimed to be a staunch tory.

I've never understood selling our assets to foreign investors

If the UK was such a 'great nation', surely it would have the wisdom to keeps it's assets 'in house'?

Instead it is one of the nations that hold the least percentage of it's own assets within the western world!

That is because of a greatly flawed privatisation process and the gradual erosion of the buying power of the UK, since it no longer has resources from other places that it used to plunder!

And that gradual erosion is now speeding up due to a weaker currency and a falling credit rating!

All this talk of Corbyn lying about watching the Queen...

Do the people writing or repeating these stories really think that this pathetic attempt to deflect attention away from the far more serious lies Johnson has been spouting is going to work?

tbh any one with anything holding there ears apart  could not give a fig as to if corbyn does or does not watch the queens speech

any one who changes there vote on this nonsense is a be** end and tbh should be slung out the country

Sadly, like the leopard, the working class can't change their spots, so will vote labour regardless as you say.Though I wouldn't go as far as you and call them stupid.
well, they did change their spots and were indeed stupid, i cant wait until the proverbial hits the fan and they realise that Doris was just using them
