Ending inequality in UK

If Trump goes ahead with his threat to cut all imports from China, where in the UK are we going to get all these workers to produce our Trainers, Laptops, and all the other paraphernalia of modern life.
The prospect of having to work for a dollar a day 7 days a week doesn't sound very enticing.

Way I see it our (?) life style is dependant on impoverishing some poor s** in the world

Its the way it is and always has been

some of the clothes we wear ? where are they made ? some sweat shop in bangladesh with child labour ? may be ? possibly ?

All the raw materilas many of us take for granted . copper for pipes , wood for building etc etc

one could go on and on and on

Have the house prices fallen or just not risen in line with similar towns?

Fallen, due to white flight.

This is a report about a similarly affected town not far away - in Yorkshire. Looking at the photos it is very similar to Burnley in respect of the type of streets and housing. And the people.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...come-corner-Yorkshire-no-white-residents.html

Fancy folk in Hampshire, Wales and Cornwall don't know the half of what goes on in these northern towns

All gin, no matter how cheap or expensive, tastes the same to me. Unlike with whisky, where I can (9 times out of ten) tell which is the expensive stuff.

Gin will always be Gordons for me, and Rum Lambs. Let John D and El Al pay through the nose for the fancy stuff to drink at their politburo meetings.

Yes, by the time you put good slug of tonic and some lemon in, will be hard pressed to tell what gin is in there. I'm not sophisticated with whisky. Someone gave me a shot of Laphroaig last year and it was 'kin disgusting. Smelt like some kind of industrial solvent. One small sip and I was retching. Give me an honest, simple drinkable double Jack Daniels and I'm happy. Don't care what the whisky snobs think.

However, brandy is something else. Life is too short for cheap brandy. Minimum has to be Courvoisier, but better to be Hennessey or Remy Martin.

I realise it is difficult but it's not really fair to complain about the low house prices if the majority of the population do not want to live there.

The article says that the 'South Asians' were enticed there as cheap labour to do back-breaking work in the woollen mills.
So - blame the mill owners and other similar exploiters.

Now, the immigrants want to live with their own kind - as, presumably, did and do the 'white flyers'.
As this is the case, is it not better that they do instead of complaining that they don't.

The first muslim to buy a house in such areas must have paid the market value to the white seller.

Did all the houses in the street then immediately fall in value because one was owned by a muslim?

Perhaps the real problem is religion about which something should be done - but nothing ever will.

There is a different problem in other parts where competition for second homes by different immigrants increases the price so much that natives cannot afford anywhere.

Crikey Trans..Impressive .Really...Different side to you.

It is surrounded by some of the loveliest countryside in the country, but the town itself is a blot.

There's a reason why the house prices are so low. Can you guess what it is?
A quick look at wikipedia suggests your perception is extremely subjective.
The cheap houses that you refer to are terraced houses
"These streets are concentrated in areas of terrace housing in poorer neighbourhoods adjacent to the town centre."

Perhaps it's the high burglary rate that causes you concern
"In February 2010, the Lancashire Telegraph reported that Burnley topped Home Office figures for the highest number of burglaries per head in England and Wales between April 2008 – April 2009"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burnley
Maybe the Labour stronghold in a Tory county, with a Tory government has had its effect over the years?

Thatcher

Burnley was a prominent, rich mill town

The Thatcher period saw wealth concentrated in finance whilst the industrial heartlands of the North were allowed to decay with no investment.

Where do immigrants go and live: poor parts of the country.
who does andy11 blame: not the cause it seems :ROFLMAO:
