I realise it is difficult but it's not really fair to complain about the low house prices if the majority of the population do not want to live there.
The article says that the 'South Asians' were
enticed there as cheap labour to do back-breaking work in the woollen mills.
So - blame the mill owners and other similar exploiters.
Now, the immigrants want to live with their own kind - as, presumably, did and do the 'white flyers'.
As this is the case, is it not better that they do instead of complaining that they don't.
The first muslim to buy a house in such areas must have paid the market value to the white seller.
Did all the houses in the street then immediately fall in value because one was owned by a muslim?
Perhaps the real problem is religion about which
something should be done - but nothing ever will.
There is a different problem in other parts where competition for second homes by different immigrants increases the price so much that natives cannot afford anywhere.
