Frame shudders when window closed

Hello All,

I've never really opened the windows in the living room of my second floor flat - I'm usually out at work all day. Current situation means I have to.

They are uPVC, with two inward-opening panes - big one and small one. I've noticed when I close them, the other sort of shudders a little bit, as does the "middle" of the frame.

There's no movement at the sides, or the top of the frame. The frame does not move when pushed.

Is this normal? Should the windows be totally solid or will there always be a little bit of "movement"/"flex" due to the size of the frame?

As I said, never opened them before so apologies if this is a stupid question!

Whilst you never want flex you have to remember they are plastic, some plastics have thicker walls than others but all will flex to a degree, the frames are hollow and are usually reinforced inside with steel box or C section but again will not remove all of the flex, on a frame like yours where you have a frame crossing over the other a crucifix as is known then even if reinforced the steel doesn't cross over, it doesn't even meet at the cross over but stops short about 4 to 6 inches. Unfortunately its something you'll have to live with now

Thanks. Kind of what I was thinking. Appreciate you taking the time to respond.

It doesn't bother me really, it was more out of curiosity.

Thanks again.
