Oppressed by whom? I agree that there is a big problem with the American police but bad policing is symptom of what is wrong rather than the cause.
In the UK how many people do you know who actively "oppress" black people.

As have the yellow people and the white people too. Try reading up on British social history. Things were hard, life was harsh in earlier centuries for everyone.
