Why should some in society respect the laws of that society when they see that society's structures are stacked against them?

Isn't that a situation of, "we will not allow you equality, and you must respect our decision on that."

NB, I've transposed (chronologically) the comments to give credence to my comment.
I am pretty sure that the initial reports of the first violent confrontation in London between police and BLM mentioned that the police initiated the 'clearance' of the area. That is when the violence kicked off. Later reports were amended to avoid indicating what initiated the confrontation.
