Good evening,

I'm currently revamping the small downstairs loo where everything bar the toilet is out. We have bought the new basin, mixer tap, waste click/clack and bottle trap but have found an issue with the trap spigot not sitting in the click/clack.
I've attached some photos which will no doubt describe the issue better. I've also checked the Mcalpine E10 trap with the old basin which fits perfectly.

Could anyone point me in the right direction please?

Cheers

Are you talking about pic 2 and the fact it won't fit in to the plastic waste? Nothing new there, see it all the time these days. Depends on the make of waste, some of them have a slightly thicker throat these days.
All I do is file/sand down the small insert piece on the trap and/or the inside of the basin waste until it fits in. That's just a location aid and not the seal, so filing it down isn't an issue. The trap seals on the flange with the rubber washer so no issue to adjust it to fit.

Thanks alot. Id planned on modifying the internal diameter if needed but didn't want to do it unnecessarily if it made something none standard. First attempt at anything like this and even my younger brother that was a plumber for 10 years before he gave it up, suggested it but said they should "just fit".

Alot more reassuring from someone that's seen it before.

So it is a Euro vs UK standard thing.

Thank you, makes sense with the Grohe mixer taps needing 3/8 to 15mm adapters!

Yea we were part of Europe for 40 odd years but never managed to standardise the plumbing.

Nothing gets past you eh Sherlock
This is sensible advice.
I found that those cheap nasty Euro waste distort under hot/cold conditions and eventually leak.
I always throw them away and fit proper ones which will never need to be looked at again.
