hi Guys,

I'm building an outbuilding for recreational purposes which includes a separate shed/garage.... I'm thinking of installing the new boiler in here as its easier to get the gas supply pipe here. I want to be able to control the central heating from inside the main outbuilding... like switch it on and off ...set the temp etc

I know you could use a smart thermostat but that doesn't switch the central heating off but leaves it in standby am I right?

A thermostat whether smart or not is just another on/off switch, so yes in standby.

For example in my main house we never use the thermostat for controlling the central heating...we manually switch it on from the boiler and switch it off when the house is warm enough...i want to be able to do this. Would you suggest a programmer unit is a better option to completely switch off the central heating remotely?

Is this the main power switch or just heating switch? Programmable room thermostat would probably be better suited, but even that would still be sort of in standby, not using gas, just ready to be turned on.

Not the main switch but just the central hesting element. I have an Intergas Boiler.
