All words are social constructs, and many change their meaning over time.
The name of the city, Rome, is not associated with the name of the group.
They actually originated in North Indian regions, and migrated into Europe.

I haven't suggested that they are a 'race', because they're not, they're an ethnicity.
I referred to them as a group, not as a race.
When I say, "they originated from Northern Indian regions", I'm using that in the same way as I would say "Scottish people originated from Scotland".
