Shower door is glass and is attached to hinge with adhesive.

Adhesive has failed and needs replacing. (Old adhesive has been removed).

Not that adhesive is not taking weight of door, door weight is designed to drop onto hinge in small area. Adhesive keeps hinge next to glass and weight of glass onto bearing point (quater moon shaped area).

Adhesive I removed was clear and hard. Single layer. And needed scraping off. It was not double sided tape.

So what adhesive best, remembering it is on show so needs to be clear.

Thanks SFK

Yes was looking at that Locktight glass adhesive. Slight worry was that super glue type adhesives need 100pc flat serfaces and do not fill gaps (but this should be okay in this case).
Rear view tape is a great idea to consider.

Was also considering araldite as can ensure a 100pc coverage and water will nót get between surfaces and go black once in place.

For sure, Araldite should be fine, especially if you can abrade the glass and get it spotless.....it's a great gap filler and is just to support rather than adhere.
Wondering why it failed in the first place though!

No idea. Looked dry. Ie no seapage of water or limescale remover (which I do use) into area.
Bond failed in patches on both sides.
Leaving patches of residue adhesive on both sides - bare patches on one side and adhesive on other.

Had to use solvent to remove residue.

So either adhesive failure
