How do you know they haven’t?

Because the guardian newspaper said so.....

Though I believe the first 3 years was the problem because that idiot may and the rest of the political elite didn't want to leave and they spent 3 in years arguing amongst themselves as to what they want and kept changing their mind each time they spoke to the EU.

Since bojo they have been clear and direct what we want, a deal in the style of Canada, the EU said absolutely not, so it's been a case of comprising on both sides for the deal that suits all. Unfortunately it appears it's the UK that's done all the compromising so far and the EU still want us to compromise further.

However I can only say what is in the papers as I am not part of the negotiation team, and so cannot say the information I possess is 100% totally accurate (but then nor can anyone else)

If you think the objectives have been decided and agreed, show me them

Has Parliament agreed?

Did the electorate agree?

Buffoon told us he had agreed a super deal, and then said he intended to break it because he didn't agree with it.

There was never a Canada style deal on offer or even under discussion as a Canada deal involves tariffs and quotas and we didn't want that. Likewise there was never an Australia type deal on offer either but the soundbites stuck (another shout out to the brilliant Danny Kahnemann work on how people make decisions).

Every deal or agreement builds up from the basic WTO agreements.

The negotiations and what stages thet are at is freely available from the EU - https://ec.europa.eu/info/european-union-and-united-kingdom-forging-new-partnership_en

We choose Brexit and we can walk away at anytime - no one is putting a gun to our heads - we choose to negotiate - WTO has always been available.

I am sure we have prioritised what we want but in any negotiation there are asymmetries of information and power imbalances. Also factor in the EU negotiating team are experienced negotiators who have been doing this type of work on behalf of the EU - we are just starting out again.

If there was no politics involved and pure economics only then we wouldn't even be here. As long as politics trumps economics we will have suboptimal outcomes and allocations of resources.

Miss Truss is certainly doing very well for a beginner.

do you accept that the 'politics' involved have come from both sides, in fact recently, more so from the EU.

Deal tonight by the look of things. There's going to be a lot of small print to trawl through.

Just to lighten the mood and offer hope for anyone feeling really miserable this Christmas ....

... think about all the other poor people who are going to spend the Christmas period studying over 2000 pages of Brexit documents, knowing that they can't do a damn thing about any of it.

Ho Ho Ho

'British made huge concessions' in Brexit trade talks, French source says | Reuters

PARIS (Reuters) - A French official said on Wednesday Britain had made significant concessions in Brexit trade talks over the past two days, as negotiators inched closer to clinching a deal.
“The British have made huge concessions in the negotiations in the past 48 hours,” the source, who declined to be named, told Reuters.
On fishing in particular, the latest British position was “far” from the 3-year access to British waters and 80% reduction in quotas offered by London a week ago, the source added, without elaborating.

Hmmmmm, what could be more reliable than an unnamed Frenchman.
