Hi

We had water leak via the enclosure under the raised shower which rotted the wooden plinth. We have taken the shower out and hope to reuse the tray and but in a new enclosure. We have cleared out the plinth and cleaned the wall back some, would the next steps be:

- re-plaster where the tiles have been removed- is there any specific plaster that is good to use for showers? is anything else needed?
- plinth or shower riser? should we replace the plinth or opt for a shower riser?
- put tray back in and link waste back up
-retile and grout
- put new enclosure in and then seal everything

I have added some pictures to show what the area looks like now, have i cleaned the walls back enough?

Many Thanks

Whenever we fit a raised shower tray we build a solid platform from 2 x 3 and plywood. I don't trust the riser kits enough to be solid enough to prevent movement.

Your walls look OK for tiling on

I would avoid anything that can be damaged by water, plumber friend always supports on bricks , they don’t rot or warp with age and unharmed by moisture.

Does he mortar the bricks to prevent movement or just sit the tray on them laid loose? I've never seen that done.

A good solid base with wbp has never caused me any problems

Mortars then in and also uses bricks under baths in preference to timber .
