71 pages of paperwork for 1 lorry of fish

Like I said, nothing is affecting me. Some blokes giving up on selling cheese and lobsters abroad because it’s not easy enough for them doesn’t affect one bit. Does it affect you?

Mottie says: I voted brexit I dont care who it damages

Centuries Old Shellfish Traders Are Facing Collapse After EU Exports Are Banned Altogether

"Banned altogether?" pfftt!

They've only got to wait until April 21st and it’s all back on again. A slight hiccup in my books. Many firms have suffered much worse since the pandemic hit but you don’t see them boo hooing, they just get on with it. Come April 21st, a fitter, leaner company will fill those gaps in the market so where's the problem for the bivalve mollusc industry?

Essex removals company.....damaged because of Brexit

Nevermind, it's only Essex, survival of the fittest says Mottie

Essex removals company facing huge loss of business after Brexit deal

An international removal company in Maldon in Essex says its business has been reduced to zero because of Brexit.

Over the past ten years, Algarve Removals has carried out almost 90,000 removals to and from Portugal - but now everything has ground to a halt.

When the Brexit trade deal came into effect on 1st January, the company was told by Portuguese customs that they had to pay a 40% charge on everything moving into Portugal.

poor Mottie thinks those sunlit uplands are just around the corner :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

go on Mottie when will the UK start to benefit from brexit in terms of trade?

To be fair, Brexit is affecting some in Belgium, they can't get their custard cream biscuits.
It doesn't bother me because I prefer French biscuits anyway. I've never bought UK biscuits while I've been here.

I do like those French biscuits - the ones with salt crystals.

The extension to April for border checks refers to UK import checks.
Come April UK is supposed to be imposing checks on imports from EU.

What are you referring to?
The imminent checks to be imposed by UK on EU imports will cause increased damaged to UK economy and trade.
UK importers brace for 'disaster' as new Brexit customs checks loom
Exporters badly hit already but KPMG says ‘biggest headaches’ have yet to come’ for importers

British firms are warning of an escalation in Brexit red tape as the government prepares to introduce a long list of new controls on imports from the European Union in April and July.

The difficulties so far have only been on the export of trade to EU. Additionally this has been diluted by the pandemic and because importers had increased their stocks in case of difficulties.
Now that those stocks are depleted, and the pandemic is waning, and the new import checks are about to be introduced, the difficulties will increase.
I wouldn't be surprised if the UK government goes into panic mode. There are signs of that already with Gove and Frost wanting concessions from EU, and we're only about 40 days into the Brexit mess!

It's lucky we had a year-long transition period to bed in all our new systems and processes.

That's why the cutover went so smoothly.

Remember April 2019, when we had one of our extensions because we weren't ready?
