Fitting a new ceiling light

Hi
I am replacing a ceiling light and have discovered three cables, each with three cables. Photo is attached showing the cables with the old light fitting.

Two cables are 3 core. The other seems to have 1 earth and two live going by the colour.
My new light is only fitted with 3 single blocks.
The switch in the room is just single one.
Can anyone advise on how I should connect the new light fitting?

Did you take a pic of the cables connected into the terminals of the rose ,before removing them ?
The cable that has two brown conductors is likely the switch cable,and one of those two would go into the live terminal of your new light fitting. The two blue conductors would go together in the Neutral terminal of new fitting. All earth conductors go together in its earth terminal . That leaves three browns ,which all go together in a fourth terminal block that you will have to provide ,and it sits within the new light fittings base ,but does not connect to the fitting in any way.

Assuming that the 'three single blocks' are for live, neutral and earth, you will need one extra connector block of some sort. Then ...

• The two browns from the cables with brown+blue, together with one of the browns from the brown+brown cable (either one, doesn't matter) should all be joined together in some new connector block
• The other brown from the brown+brown cable should be connected to the 'L' of your new light.
• The two blues should be connected to the 'N' of your new light.
• The three bare earth wires (with green/yellow sleeving) should all be connected to the earth terminal of the new light.
