He's like a crappy tradesman who wants to welch on what he agreed.
If you say so but he's our crappy tradesman employed to work for us. You don’t employ a tradesman and then rubbish his work unless you can do it yourself or there’s a better tradesman available. What are the past and present tradesman options to Boris? Amateurs, that’s what!

EU food should carry a safety warning.

1981: Spanish tainted oil

Some 1,200 people are killed in Spain in May 1981 after being poisoned by tainted colza oil, sold as a substitute for olive oil in Madrid's suburbs. Sales of olive oil drop drastically, getting back to normal only two years later. In 1992, 10 company chiefs and chemists in the food oil sector are sentenced to between four and 77 years in prison over the affair.
Just one example of EU safety standards.

A more upto date example.

Three people died in Germany because bacteria-contaminated food from a meat producer was sold on the European market. Although the authorities knew about the bacterial discovery, production was only halted after two weeks. EURACTIV Germany reports.

That is not an example of EU food safety standards, but a dodgy company

The sort of imbecile who believes in the UK, who believes we can once again be an independent world power (already achieved), who believes we can strike up our own trade deals worldwide (already achieved), who believes we don't have to bow down to EU diktats and dictators (already achieved).
In reverse order. What diktats? It doesn't work like that.
We are a world power. Just what has changed and in what way? Sure there are several greater world powers but that's life.
Trade deals - sure there are complications with being in the EU in that area but they serve a specific purpose. You must be dead thick if you don't realise why they need to be approved by a number of countries collectively when a country is in it. What wonderful deals have we made so far? Are we essentially and exporting or importing country? Why in many areas is importing preferred here? I don't feel the need to answer these as the answers are so simple anyone should be able to.

Another part of the problem was that the leave campaign was better at getting their message/lies across.
A good deal of it was sound bites. The european experiment, project fear, beurocrats and so on, even the word brexit. The general media loves things like this and gave it plenty of air. It's a tough thing to counter. Coverage on the EU has always been a bit sparse and has never really explained what it is at or for. Immigration figured heavily as well and even seemed to drag in illegals some how which aren't related at all. All very jingoistic. An area well known for influencing the masses and has done many times over the ages. Unfortunately humans are tribal. It explains many of the problems about in the world as does wealth which really does vary widely in a number of different ways. People can't even have the same gods. Indoctrinated as they mature.

You are conflating EU standards and non compliance to standards by dodgy companies.

In fact your link proves the EU food standards agency inspectors expose them.
It shows that dodgy food in the EU is rife.
They obviously don't enforce their own standards properly.
1200 people dead in Spain alone before they did anything.

What will Boris do?
Will he huff and puff and then roll over, or will he unilaterally invoke article16 and restore the right to the free movement of British sausages around the UK.

Has the UK not had, and continue to have, it's own problems?
Salmonella in Chicken, and thus eggs
Typhoid in shellfish from pollution
BSE in cattle
Kitchen and lavatory habits continue to cause problems in UK.
The poor diet causing illness, for example Olive oil was only available for softening earwax, sold from chemists in small bottles up until about 1960's.
It is estimated the UK poor food hygiene and poor diet contributes more strain on health care then smoking or drinking alcohol.

It's a false argument to point to problems caused by criminal activities. The emphasis needs to be on the legislative regime.
Criminals will always seek to circumvent the legislation.

Let's take a similar issue: What would Boris do if the EU insisted on the free movement of people following Brexit?
Or insisted on being allowed to export Foie Gras to UK, etc? Or bring in current banned articles such plants, food stuffs without testing, etc?
Or EU visitors to UK allowed to ignore the customs limits on alcohol , tobacco, etc?

Or visitors from third world countries insisted on bringing in products not being checked, or banned foodstuffs.

UK is asking for a waiver from the EU, for something they had no intention of honouring.
It's OK to claim that standards are similar now, they won't be for long.

Poor food standards have always existed in the east of Europe and beyond

all this COVID caper has come from poor standards from foreigners

Poor diet, lavatory habits, etc, has always existed in UK.
There was no need to adopt any foreign habits, there were sufficient poor habits always there.

It was a well-known fact that UK people in hot climates were smelly, dirty people. The locals would bathe at least once a day.

what a Load of baloney any way

1 part of the UK cannot send a sausage to another part of the UK

what about medicines and health care products are they subject to the same petty EU rules :?:

All this sausage caper suspect the F***** scoundrels / Macrine taking the lead in this ;)
