So I’ve just read an article about an alledged stabbing in North Wales. Then I clicked a link 3 separate stabbings in Liverpool. I read an article last week about 2 boys who used a girl to lure another boy and stabbed and murdered him. Are we just a modern medieval times? I know history can repeat itself, but this just seems like a regular occurrence now.

A customer of ours (company I work for) said at the age of 64, she thinks the world is an awful place to be/live in now, and would be happier if she weren’t here.

Blame the liberals in society.

Unfortunately the methods required to solve these problems are not acceptable in a democratic society.

Mass elimination of certain types of people?

Or take the Chinese way and monitor every person's movements at all times, shut down social media / only allow certain heavily restricted social media,

Maybe conscription to the army when leave school unless you have a formal skilled Job offer / college/ university placement?

I think crime has always been around, the population has grown drastically since the war, cities and towns and villages are denser, life is so much less rigid than it once was, sometimes for the better sometimes for the worse, social media and newspapers hypes it up a fair bit aswell, the idilization of criminals (George Floyd) and "bad boy/girl" rappers from the ghettos ramps things up ( a surprising amount of young teenage kids think they come from the "ghetto" in the Uk, admittedly some do).

It's this glamorization that's the problem, we see it with films and video games and the lines are becoming more and more blurred for young folk and they become immune to it, crimes have increased in the young https://www.issuesonline.co.uk/articles/youth-crime-on-the-rise-in-the-uk

I was in my home town of canvey a couple of years ago now picking up my dear old ma from bingo, decided to get a kebab on the way back (was about 10:30ish on a Friday) some teenie **** started giving it the big'un on his bike, then the bouncer from the pub over the road came over and give him a jab, fell of his bike and started shouting "I'm from the ghetto bruv, i''m tough you ain't got no idea what I'm capable of" as he said that one of the girls In the queue shouted "you live in a 4 bed detached house and your mum drives an X5, I'm seeing her in the morning I'll tell her how hard done by you are in your ghetto, and how tough you are threatening old ladies with the skills you learnt In your ghetto" he got up and peddled off as fast as he could whilst the world was laughing at him, even his mates couldn't help but chuckle.

Canvey isn't the nicest place in the world but on the whole it's hardly a ghetto or a slum.

Having written the above I do sound like an old fart now... Moaning about video games and film content..next I be saying "weren't like that in my day" etc etc

Oh yeah - because they are the violent ones, arent they.

They are the ones preaching hate.

They are the ones preaching thuggish solutions to things they dont like.

They are the ones wanting harsh social control.

They are the ones wanting to discriminate.

They are the ones most clearly aligned with racism and fascism.

They are the ones recognised by anti-terror police as the biggest threat.

Its bound to be their fault.

What about the good that people do in helping others - people helping random strangers on GoFundMe?

Too add, when my brother joined the army at 16, there were 160 of them enrolled to his camp, can't remember the exact regiment he was in but was a signals regiment,

They started basic training, and pretty much all the "tough guys" bottled it and couldn't hack it so left, only half of those that started it finished the basic training, half again actually finished there full Training, my brother finished and was promptly shipped to Iraq when that was all kicking off.

A lot of these self proclaimed tough guys aren't really tough at all. Whilst there in their gangs with their mates they're Billy big balls

The liberals are in the ascendancy, they live in nice areas and have good jobs.
The problems that ordinary people have to deal with don't affect them.

When I was doing my yachtmaster theory course I had the opportunity to attend a weekend navigation course, run by some Naval charity on board an ex WW2 (second world unpleasantness) minesweeper. Kicked off from Chatham I think, up the Medway into the Thames Estuary, round the coast to Margate, overnight stop to explore the fleshpots and back in time for supper on Sunday.

Anyway, coming out of the Thames Estuary one of the old sea dogs pointed out the masts of the 'Richard Montgomery', a US liberty ship, it sunk carrying over 7000 tons of explosives. It's surrounded by buoys marking a 500 feet exclusion zone, for safety natch. Wrecks are good fishing grounds for whatever reason so there are always a ring of small boats surrounding the wreck catching fish.

After the war, it became a priority to salvage the cargo, for safetys sake, and a survey was carried out. They decided it would be extremely dangerous and extremely expensive, so they decided to leave well alone and carry out an annual survey, until eventually they decided it was too dangerous to even carry out a survey.

Anyway, 70 odd years on it's still there. After 70 years it's possible the explosives have turned to jelly and are completely harmless, on the other hand they could be equally as potent as they were 70 years ago, nobody knows.

But here's the thing, if those explosives did go off, they could cause a tidal wave capable capable of taking out both Sheerness and Canvey Island. **** me.

Two things about Canvey spring to mind.

1. It's better than Clacton.

2. It gave birth to Dr Feelgood.

That's good enough for me.

Spare the rod, spoil the child.
Lack of discpline in schools like the 50's have caused all teenagers to become an unruly mob.

Doing good should be the norm.... but it wouldn't be a bad idea to start a thread on the good that people do for each other.

My mates son joined the Marines. When they all arrived at this particular station, a sergeant started bawling them out. Saying things like "if you miss your mum, if you miss your mates, if you can’t handle being told what to do, get back on that ****ing train now and **** off…." Three people did!
