trade deal with Australia....there isn't one

"One person at the event Tehan spoke at said some eyebrows were raised when he said he hoped to build on migration agreements in the deal, one of which will see people under the age of 35 able to get working visas more easily. He said he wanted migration to be “free-flowing” between the two nations, and as good a deal as the U.K. had with the EU."

Wait until the same demands are made by Asian/African/South American countries in return for the same trade deals that the UK already had through the EU...

They could even be worse...

Brexiteers should be apoplectic, but they won't be because they don't get it that their 'victory' was simply a Pyrrhic one! (n)

So we haven't actually got an agreement? The one that gives Oz so much? And we sell them Chorley cakes, or summat.

The Aussies can smell Bozza's desperation. They've already got him to drop the Paris Climate Agreement, and they'll be making him sweat as they wait for him to give more ground. He needs to get a move on. If we have to cull any more animals, we're really going to need that cheap, low grade beef.

Tory bots like filly, like to make a big splash with 'trade deal agreed' attention grabbing headlines. Two paragraphs later 'in talks' is actually the truth.
Gammons really should not read those horrific rags.

Aye, Chorley cakes and nuclear sub technology.
No, the USA have a Nuclear sub technology deal, we might get some crumbs.

don’t forget, Brexit made the UK very weak, it’s just a minnow in the world now.

summer 2022 is the earliest we will get a deal…

Not a problem, 29 out of 32 articles already agreed, so we'll still have a trade deal in half the time the EU are projected to agree one. Oh wait, the EU have postponed trade talks with Oz, something to do with submarines I believe.

UK has the strongest military in Europe.

That's interesting.

Are you counting number of serving soldiers?

Number of tanks that are actually in working order?

Something else?

How much input do we have? When it comes to civil nuclear infrastructure, we have to rely on the French and Chinese. To think we were once pioneers and leaders in the nuclear industry with BNFL, etc. Think it was the Tories who closed BNFL.

At least I'm almost certain that we still lead the world in the production of Chorley cakes.

Rolls Royce have designed and supplied the nuclear reactors that power our submarines, that expertise is now being focused on mini nuclear power plants, UK Gov is heavily invested and the export potential is beyond huge.

Brexit Britain at it's best.;)

Would Rolls Royce not have been able to sell to other countries before Brexit?

I could be wrong, but I remember Rolls Royce being large and successful pre-Brexit. It's great that Brexit has achieved all this so quickly. :)

My only fear is that the mini nuclear plants may need to be transported by lorry.

In terms of size, I believe we're the fifth largest in Europe, Greece is no.4.

I believe Vinty said the 'strongest military' in Europe, that's not something I would dispute.

Could the UK Govt help fund the developement prior to Brexit? wouldn't that be classed as 'state aid'? wouldn't that be against EU rules because of distorting competition.

As I said, Brexit Britain at it's best.
