Heat pumps........yeah right !

The Overton Window in action.

Nozzle

Nope not that,

They have done a lot of articles recently on climate change policy etc and they are printing what I believe to be the correct way to improve, not long ago they would have been printing stories of how bad meat is and farming should be banned and we should all live in mud huts and eat dirt.

It makes a change from their usual woke articles trying to explain that black people can't ever be racist no matter what..

But these recent pieces have been well thought out and proven to be a viable option for all those involved, as per the posted link.

Other news papers just seem to say what bojo says with no other dialect to put through a sane well thought out plan.

I wonder if noise will be a potential issue? A quick Google tells me average noise of a modern combi is 40-60dB. Apparently air source heat pumps generate similar levels of noise. However, whereas many homes have their boilers located inside (so the only one that hears it is you), the air source heat pump requires the unit to be external to the property, thus heard by others in the immediate area. In more densely populated areas, that'll mean a lot of these things whirring away at the same time. I suppose with double glazing there might not be much of an issue, however if any of your neighbours are happy to leave a unit running that's maybe in need of a service and a bit noisier than usual it might be frustrating, especially if they leave their heating on 24/7.

Noise is one of the factors that may require planning permission prior to fitting an ashp

Depends on the location of neighbouring props ?

Agree with this. Hence why more and more economic experts assert the capitalist/consumerist model isn't working. Me and my old mum often joke it's a good job the masses aren't like us. We buy stuff infrequently. I have jackets and trainers etc that are years old and I still think of them as being new!

The entire model needs revised. Including aspects like products that are either designed to fail after a few years and/or cheaper to replace than repair.

As you say, consume consume consume, growth growth growth. At what point does it become unsustainable?

I agree. I sometimes like have a wonder round the charity shops, usually to see what books they might have. What I notice is they are rammed with women's clothes, there are hardly any men's clothes - which I suspect means men are like me, they wear until they are worn out. I have a very large wardrobe, which is rammed - some of the contents is 30 year old, which I still happily wear. I built some new shoe storage last week, so all the the shoes etc., could be stored in one place and naturally did a 'stock take'. I threw a couple of pairs out, cleaned and polished up the rest. Today I wore a pair I have not worn for a few years, whilst out I realised why - the left one has a squeek with every step I take, though they are very comfortable.

Wendy claims I have far more clothes and shoes than she has, probably true, but then I keep what I buy for a very long time and rarely need to buy new, whereas she is buying and disposing of the old frequently.

When you have reduced the consumerism, the people making, transporting and selling the consumer goods won't have jobs any more. Unemployment would go up. Unemployment doesn't enhance quality of life.

Himmy's still stalking me. Fortunately I can no long see his drivel. If you're still there, time for yet another user name. :ROFLMAO:

Goodbye! :D
I wouldn't call it stalking, just checking on the typical bigotry you usually spout.
If you don't want me to check on your bigoted comments, don't make them.
I'm really amazed at how you can spout such hatred and bigotry about others, but whenever that bigotry is highlighted and questioned, you turn into a real sensitive snowflake.
