Some people here are. The first UK death has already been disputed on this forum. There's a whole thread about it being just like a cold now.
People need to sit back for a bit and see what happens before making claims that could impact other people's lives in a very negative way.
But the only people with their knickers in a twist seem to be the deniers and antis, who once again think advice to wear a mask, get a vaccine and work from home if you can, is a major breach of human rights and freedoms.
I don't think even the morons are saying it's harmless? Maybe I just dismiss the ones who do.
I'm more at odds with the attitude that we don't have a clue, and keep repeating it. We do have a number of clues.
Sure, time will explain more, no s s.
There will be a lot of sick people and the hospitals may not be able to cope but there is good reason for a view on the managing-it side of obliteration.
Drs in SA are reporting far fewer admissions pro rata, and 1/3rd the duration on average so a quick turnaround. Folk are going in with a bad headache, nose, and cough, fatigue, raised heart rate (without loss of smell) but without airway support. We may all get used to that and stay home.
A higher proportion (than almost none with delta)is younger(<40) and some of those are quite ill but the numbers are low. (But we do know those aren't vaccinated in SA.) I daresay we'll adapt to reaction differences.
I don't see why some see a need to take the p out of those observations or those who find them.
Nor do I see why people think it being OK to mix, before we know more about hospital load. We know about flattening the curve.
There is no reason for panicking as we don’t see any severely ill patients.” – Dr Angelique Coetzee, chair of the South African Medical Association.
This witness article is pretty typical. In sheer numbers (not proportions), it's not as bad as might have been expected. Coping. Cases are falling in Gauteng now:
