I want to replace an old fluorescent light fitting with the following :-

https://www.toolstation.com/integral-led-lightspan-ip20-ik08-batten/p51267

Does this allow the wire to come in at the centre of the light, or is the connection at the end .. if at the end, this will be no good, as the wire in the ceiling is in the centre of the room.

An electrician will be fitting it for me on Friday, so I need to buty it tomorrow, or something more suitable (for a kitchen)

An alternative could be this one, from Screwfix

The picture shows a 20mm hole in the centre of the backplate, you may need to add extra connecters inside the unit and extend the wires to the terminals, any electrician should be able to do that

Looks ok, there is a 20mm hole in the centre, as well as a 25mm hole 300mm either side of the centre hole.

It's possible you may have to extend the wiring inside the fitting if the connector block is too far away, but that's easy to do.

The Screwfix LAP one is NOT central or flush entry at all. The only cable entry is the gland at one end and, as it does not continue a CPC through the fitting, is unsuitable for daisy-chaining.

Wouldn't a 'cool white' (both are) turn your warm kitchen into a cool operating theatre??

Good for a workshop, terrible for a kitchen. I found this with cool white LED lamps in the past. Mrs hated them.

I originally had warm white, latest we have a choice of WW or CW output - we both agreed and settled on CW after becoming used to the CW.

Dunno if you can get strips that do this but I've got some round ceiling lights where as well as being able to select WW/CW/DL with a little switch you can set them so that they cycle through the colours if you switch them on and off reasonably quickly (a few seconds) at the wall.

I thought when I got them it was a gimmick, but actually it's useful. We never want the DL setting, but definitely if we need them in the day we prefer CW, but WW when it's dark.

AFAICT, you can get WW versions of the Integral Lightspan.

Between LAP and Integral, I'd have Integral every time.

Used a lot of Robus stuff 10 - 15 years ago, but can't comment on what it's like now.
