Hi,

I am looking to replace my hall lights, with LED modern lights and the fitting is different as expected.

The new LED light only has a live and neutral does not require an earth according to the instructions. I presume I can just put black electrical tape over the earth wire

My existing hall light fittings both have loop wires as shown below:

The brown wire and black wire with red tape on it I believe to be the live.

The remaining black wires, along with the blue, I believe to all be neutrals.

I am not sure what I do with the loop wires, do they go into one of the live feeds on the new LED fitting?

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

You could use something like a Greenbrook lighting connector?

The 4 way block, would replace the the ceiling rose, and you would only need a 2 core cable connected to the 3 way plug as the fitting is double insulated.
The whole block, when wired, would then push up into the ceiling void.
I hope that makes sense! :)

...The loop wires would not go into one of the live feeds on the new fitting!

Why black?
The earth wires must remain connected together, in a block.

Probably because he already has black tape.

You need green and yellow earth sleeving.

Poole Lighting. Don't go there on a Saturday.
