Supporting Ukraine

EU doesn't have a military.
It's constituent member states do, and most of them are in NATO. (30 members of NATO - 27 members of EU. Turkey, USA. UK and Canada are in NATO but not in EU)
Ireland, Switzerland and a few others are declared neutral.

Yes, that is what I meant by "and can act as a single unit"

One big army under a single command, against lots of smaller armies, of many commands, and languages.
Who will win?

Exactly. Just watched the Russian foreign minister, bloody depressing stuff.
It is now clear that they are going to paint everybody that disagrees with them as provocative and an enemy.

Remove the nukes, get nuked.
Keep the nukes, get nuked.
Enforce a no-fly zone, get nuked.
Don't enforce a no-fly zone, watch millions of people burn.

We can't win this, and Putin knows it. Probably been planning this for 2 years of pandemic - he caught the west sleeping.
And Russia goes down the swan, as sanctions kick in. He won't be able to aford the current military spending long term. So if Ukraine does fall, what then?

Where have we seen many countries fighting a single large army before..... and winning?

Some army surplus stores are reporting a brisk trade from Ukrainians returning home ?

there are some Brit paramedics from around here going out there apparently ??

If it's a NATO country that is invaded, there will be a unifying command.
As EU is a strategic partner to NATO, one could assume the same if an EU, but non-NATO country is invaded.

Would not surprise me in the slightest that the west / nato

have some special forces in the Ukraine

probably a given

On a lighter note: A friend of mine suggested that if Ukraine entered Eurovision this year, they'd probably win just by turning up.

There is a reason that NATO forces carry out joint exercises on a regular basis. There is also a command structure that rotates and forces are assigned as part of the NATO contingent and come under their command very similar to UN forces.

Putin may not want to stop at the Ukraine but he sure as hell wont want to take on NATO. This current situation is because we have tried to appease him and he thinks we wont stand in his way.

You don't think the russians would have brought along army engineers then?
Well they'd be stupid not to but it takes time to rebuild roads and bridges or don't you think so?

They might have even brought along some weapons, the dirty *******s.

People also said there'd never be another war in Europe.
Actually many people did in the early part of 2016 (and before) say there was a likelihood of war if Europe was weakened...

Well Europe was very soon after indeed weakened, and what do we see now!

Korea, although that was at best a draw for the UN Vs China.

You were probably thinking of WW2, but you'd be wrong. The German army cycled through 13.9 Million soldiers, Russia used 34 million and the US 16 million.

Roads are very quick with a few bulldozers...

As for bridges...

100m in 30 minutes...

Then just add another length if required...

Simples :)

How was Europe weakened - in what sense?
