So come on, pick Boris's successor.

Have done nowt of consequence
LOL That way they have done nothing wrong.

Truss - pass but having seen her on stage with Blinken and Labrov I doubt it. Her stone faced approach probably wont appeal to many and I don't think she could cut it with that unlike Thatcher who needed help with her voice and appearance. I suspect Truss sees herself that way or may do.

Priti make waves in the channel - maybe but pass. She can smile. Might help.

Any other females. They seem to be background figures who support womens rights and some odd areas which is fair enough really but.........

What does a PM need. Skill with words and debate - unprepared ideally. Cambridge debating society famed for that but no need to provide proof of what is said. Anything goes. Ex journalists are word smiths ;) truthful?. Legal people get taught certain skills. Presentation is important to them. PM questions come into these area. Charisma probably ideal in international areas.

Another fat faced, clean shaven ex Eaton etc ideally youngish - another Cameron, well initially anyway.

Previous experience - I'm not sure if Boris had much of that really. Mayor of London, not liked by many Tory. Loved by the ERG for obvious reasons. A figure head IMHO opinion very dependent on advisors. Maybe another one of those.

Given the resignation has been achieved I suspect some have particular people in mind. Might be possible to tell which at round 2.

Sunak, possibly?
Toy boy selected due to the resignation of the one that wouldn't ditch his advisors so I'd say not. Mind you a toy boy might suite.

Being fair though his economic views do seem to relate to the rift with Boris. Or are they the views of others in the party.

Rees-Mogg. At least his speeches will be entertaining.
Am I to gather from that you are into nonsense poems? That's what his pronouncements sound like to me, complete nonsense (or should I say piffle and balderdash?)

This thread has been comedy gold! Thanks for giving me a good laugh, @Mottie, but as a non-Tory I doubt that I could suggest anyone other than to say that it's a great pity Rory Stewart isn't still in parliament. I have a great deal of respect for the man, and that's despite him being a Tory

Poor Rory has the political instincts of a Boy Scout. A nice chap your mother would have for tea and cake but not a PM.

Steve Baker or Penny Mordaunt, both Brexiteers. There needs to be a remainer in the running, but voting for him/her would be political suicide for the Conservative party.

They will use tactical voting as they always do to select who will win. The other will be a plausible but unlikely to get the party vote.

Probably true but a revote would have probably kept us in ;) providing we had been out for a while. It might of done without that really. - Protest and couldn't be bothered voters.

it's great to see the residue of johnson supporters, flapping about on the beach after the tide has gone out

what they really like is a dishonest, incompetent, untrustworthy, lying figure of fun that no decent brit would join.

they refuse to believe there could be anybody better

and say there is nobody competent and trustworthy in the tory party who could take over

keep on saying it, brexers.
