Dover...

Whilst Dover's evolution has been impressive, there was a time during the construction of the Channel Tunnel when the Port's future as a ferry port looked uncertain, and it is within that period that we looked to diversify with the introduction of a cruise terminal and a marina. The Port of Dover is now one of the UK's busiest cruise port and our marina achieves the highest ratings in the industry for service and quality. However, the ferry traffic never left and in fact grew even more following the opening of the Channel Tunnel. In fact, the Port has delivered further development as part of an £85 million capital plan to ensure it can handle future volumes of traffic.

The need for more money being put in isn't exactly new and is being admitted at the moment, Not just the port but access to it as well.

The UK was fully aware of EU entry requirements while were in and were implementing them. Why is it that the implications of these were not considered?

Fact is that it can't cope with current travel levels and all parties blame each other. Also a fact that no company will stick £85m in on the basis that it might show a profit, They will do it if that is certain. LOL That can involve seeing that it's needed. It wont be done on the off chance.

What is it like being small minded and bitter?

brexit voters….so full of hatred.
Have you ever looked at some of the right wing rag headlines? Media outlets such as The Wail The Express and the Telegraph dedicate much of their reporting to bashing the French and the Germans and the EU in general. It's no wonder that gammon Brexers are as deluded as they are.

We left - why can't they move on? Pathetic.

I'm happy to move on. Unfortunately, the (minority) remoaners still continue to complain about their losing the democratic decision. They never shut up about it and I'm not sure why because there's no way we'll be going back into the EU, even if they'd have us. In addition, there are noises that the union may well begin to break up and others leave. I think they only thing which prevents some dissatisfied 'member states' leaving is that they now owe so much money to France and Germany that they can't afford to. I sometimes wonder what will happen next when their debt builds up even further.

I really thought you were referring to NI and Scotland.

I don't remember voting to join the EEC, but I certainly would have done. I am all in favour of a free-trade organisation.
What I cannot ever accept is handing over this country to a foreign power like the EU and allowing them to dictate their rules and laws to us. So, yes, I knew exactly what I was voting for when I voted to leave.
Could you explain exactly how the UK was handed over to a non existent 'foreign power'?

After all if the UK wasn't a 'sovereign state' how could it possibly vote to leave the EU?

I'm afraid you had no clue as to what you were voting for!

My only regret is that our inept politicians have ensured that we achieved BRINO and not a true Brexit. They also seem to have ensured that we continue to pay the EU £millions for absolutely nothing.
What is a 'true brexit'?

And what does 'we continue to pay the EU £millions for absolutely nothing' mean in your book?

Do enlighten us!

Brexit isn't done yet, there's no chance we'll stop disescting it until we have finally finished putting in place the extra controls that we've signed up to and until the government stops trying to Weasel out of its agreements.

Even then it won't be the end of it as it has been a failure on every point so far.

The people i really feel for are those with kids in the back of the car.
"Are we there yet...Are we there yet...Are we there yet...Are we there yet...Are we there yet..."
Seven hour tailbacks now reported on the news.
Oh! the humanity.

Yep, Brexit is to blame, the Guardian says so.

And no, I don't particularly believe the Guardian anymore than I believe any other rag. The point is that ALL the right wing gammons are blaming the French and seething with it. Why? Because they read a news outlet that despises foreigners especially our nearest neighbours.
