You must be confusing 'the troubles' with this current problem. They ended long before Boris decided on his Irish Sea idea. If the EU or the Irish are unhappy with a border at the extents of N.I., let them pay to police it.
To be honest, I don't think the Irish people would be bothered about a border - free trade between them and us.
Of course, the EU wouldn't like it which is why Bumbling Boris gave in to them!

Trade deals are strange things. The EU trades a lot with the USA. There is no way they will get a free trade agreement because the EU is "winning", As things stand with out that deal the USA can take it's own steps to interfere with trade if they want - tariffs for instance. Often deals relate to particular products or services. Countries / groups will always tend to be protectionist.

A majority voted for the whole UK to remain in the EU.
That majority was only achieved because a substantial number of Unionists voted remain.
Today the vast majority of Unionists are opposed to the Protocol.
As the Protocol not yet been fully implemented, how can anyone know whether they like the Protocol or not.

Yep. Now the villa has gone and we've been paid up, we've just some taxes and utility companies to sort out and we're done with Spain for a while. Haven’t been there since 2019 and TBH, we haven’t missed it. In fact because of transport uncertainties, I wouldn’t trust going to Europe in general and France in particular for a good while yet. Jersey for us a week ago and we've booked a cottage in the Lake District for September. Possibly the Peak district again for the new year. For the foreseeable, we'll be spending our holidays and our money anywhere other than Europe and I don’t think I’m alone in that decision.

We put off going to France this summer holidays.

Took the girls up to Suffolk for a long week while I work and maybe I'll go Israel or India in January
