Hanging a narrow gate

The gate's gonna open towards camera , hung off 4 x 2 bolted to render. Two sliding bolts into pvc opposite. Put another stop on hinge side. Gate already made at joinery

Bolt the 4x2 to whatever is supporting the render, not the render

If you can get the 4x2 bolted to the face we can see most of, rather than the face the red line touches, then you won't narrow your opening by 2 desperately needed inches

Presumably the driveway abuts the garage and this is the only place for a gate. It ain't rocket science.

I wouldn't fix the batton to the wall until you have the gate so as you can double check the fit.
with a 2" baton on the wall, the opening will be just 14 - 15 inches - only skinny folk allowed?
