Ukraine counter offensive

...and with the bridges down any kind of crossing is fraught with risk. The winter will be interesting to see how both sides endure.
I think climate wise, Ukraine is reasonably fair or mild. I'm sure they have eastern influences (like the UK), but it's not like north-eastern Russia for example.

It can get bloody cold in winter, and far worse than the UK...

We will have to work out how to keep people warm when not in a warzone...

They of course will have to face freezing conditions due to their power systems being destroyed!

It was more of a comparison regards the frigid north-eastern areas of Russia etc. 'The breadbasket of Europe' is positively balmy compared to those places and is on a latitude similar to northern France (?).

Nooo. It's continental climate, sub zero all winter. Not as cold as Moscow though.

Meanwhile putin seems to have lost the plot. What plot was that, exactly??

Blimey at this rate Putin may have to pull all his assets out of Syria ?

Mr Assad may have to keep a bag packed ??

As a Ukrainian said they now have a rather wide body of water to get over. Advantage as he sees - increases the number of places they can strike.

A BBC reporter that goes by the name of Jeremy put it another way. End of a chapter and start of the next one but that doesn't mean the war is over. He seemed to be suggesting that the use of concrete doesn't relate to tank traps. Maybe Ukraine will go WWII and float them across. The USA made a right mess of that and a lot sunk. ;) Us brits lost a couple. The ships that took them dropped them a lot nearer. D Day landing. USA worried about loosing the ships.

I wonder what will happen in respect to the citizens of Kherson that are currently there. Russia evacuated some saying remain at your own peril.

Climate. Much like parts of Russia that grows winter wheat. Sow the seeds at the correct time. Fields get covered with snow. That melts and growth continues.

The Ukrainians are also pushing back in the east of the country where the river isn't such a major obstacle. A big push here and they could just drive south behind the river.

Ukraine will stsrt to come under increasing pressure to negotiate with the Russians

Also with out the US support they will have a problem

Ounce again the US have to get involved in European conflict and come to Europes aid

Those who are anti US should bare that in mind

Nobody wants to negotiate unless they're losing.

How much of their country do you think they should give up?

US has just agreed another 400m, air defence and a load of shells.

If Kherson residents on the Russian side clear out, they leave Russians, a nice target for long range accurate weapons to hit.

It is imo a no win situation militarily for either Russia or the Ukraine

I don’t think they should give up any thing

But some type of settlement will need to be reached

The Ukranians for various reasons are not able to attack Russia

Why do you think that? The east of Ukraine is a flat plain, now the freeze is setting in its well suited to mechanised warfare. With no terrain boundaries they've got lots of potential to advance and cut off the land supply route, and water supply to Crimea.
