Sturgeon red faced... Using trans people for political gain..

If you've had a referendum on something and you want to have another go within a short period of time (a decade or so), it makes sense to raise the bar.

It costs a huge amount to create these referendums and there is long term damage to the economy and social cohesion with the unknown situation and political split.

People are still getting upset over Brexit for example and I think they will be for the next 10 years.

Imo Scottish independance is inevitable
Independence is indeed inevitable...

Brexiteers have guaranteed that, since the destruction of the UK appears to be their goal whether they understand that or not!

But Sturgeon is employing the same tactic as happened over clause 28...

Make a minor legal dispute into a game changer (y)

Make that 40+ years...

Given that the xenophobes kept on about being part of Europe for decades and agitating to leave, then expect the same from the sane (and now majority) of the population...

But it'll be a new vote proposed before the end of the decade anyway ;)

No. Keep the same rules. If opinion is strong enough, the majority should be clear

In which case you can keep going. Why stop after a yes vote, why not have another and another..

Where does it end?

As far as I'm concerned, the result is the result.

if a political party has a specific issue and keeps getting voted into power on it, it suggests there is an issue to decide on

A view to which you are entitled.

However, MB specified "a 2/3rds majority", a view which they are entitled.
a simple majority was good enough for brexit.

what's the difference if Scotland wants independence ?

keep the same rules, or risk upsetting even more people. Once you start setting different targets for different votes you can see where opinion would go.

How do you address the losing side asking for another vote and another etc. There will always be an "issue to decide" where the vote is between 50-60% in favour/against.. the loser will always think - have another go, we were close.

More fool Cameron.

Learning from Brexsh!t, Westminster's desire to maintain the union, those sort of other excuses / reasons?

Some will undoubtedly be upset (oppositions tend to be upset, just because they're opposition).
Some would be upset if the rules that were demonstrably rubbish to start with, were not amended.

You can't please everyone all of the time.

as long as the snp keep getting voted into power with that as their main political objective then the people that vote them in are entitled to consider it.

if the snp have a different main criteria or don't get voted in it answers itsekf

Garbage stated categorically that a 52-48 of the electorate vote would be 'unfinished business'...

The nasty party brought in a requirement that unions would need higher percentages to carry the day, and also have a higher percentage of parliamentary members to force an early election...

Different strokes for different folks?

It's how to keep power once it's been won.

A very slippery slope.

Democracy means majority
