My father came to my house with a 5 ltr drum off Dipetane and told me to put in oil tank. Is this good advice? My boiler seems to be running efficiently .4 days a week it's on thermostat at 19 degrees three days it's set to away as we come in different times. Usually when it hits 19 i turn on boost to 20 after it creeps up to say 19.6 and my oil tank is only dropping an inch a week although this week has been a bit colder so I expect its dropped a little bit more. will the Dipetane affect the amount the boiler burns?

Dipetane is normally only put in tanks that have a set of 4 wheels and a engine?

It will not do it any harm, but doubt it will do it any good either. Might be more useful in the tank of your diesel car.

With this sort of dilution there won't be any harm done - or improvements either!
Cetane boosters improve combustion speed (and cleanliness) in diesel engines - although with today's engines I doubt if there is a use for it even here.
