What’s everyone doing for a holiday this year ?

Wolvo-on-Sea (y)
Correct. Hilarious on match day seeing all the football chavs, mooching around Barmouth, in their glorious colours - Villa, Wolves, Blues, West Brom. The missus and me pronounce it with a similar ending to Vermouth, so as to give it an 'exotic' ring to it.

Love Barmouth, me. Quite a lot of cash around there though.

Rhyll - now that is a shít hole. Had a nice meal the Laughing Budda though. The Bodfor hasn't changed the carpet in a couple of decades.

First time I went there with the family, I pulled up on the big open car park.

I was bursting for a slash, so jumped out of the car and asked the first bloke I saw where the bogs were.

I could barely understand the thickest Black Country-accented set of directions he came out with :ROFLMAO:

Looking at going to Seville and Crete and of course a few short U.K. breaks with the dawg. No firm dates yet though.
Decided against Crete and found a cruise that visits Crete - Heraklion specifically so that she could visit the island of Spinalonga, but by the time we went to book it, all balcony cabins had sold out. Mrs Mottie can’t be persuaded to have an inside cabin or even one with just a window ………. so we went and booked a holiday in Menorca at the end of August. Maybe a cruise next year.

My Dad has a palace in the hills between Benidorm and Alicante. We are staying in a little place called El compello, while having a few days at my dads.

We will probably try for another around autumn time.
A PALACE!?

Always fancied that Juan-les-Pins, which is mentioned in "Where Do You Go To My Lovely".

But I'll probably stick to Rhyl.
Went there for dinner when in St. Tropez. Easy to travel around

Camping in various locations.
Haven't been abroad since kids were born.

There appears to be an active market in unwanted cruises. People at risk of losing deposits and payments sell them on at cost. P &O don’t necessarily make charges for name changes.

I think it's known as the 'ten week rule'. People book cruises, put a deposit down and then have to pay in full ten weeks before the cruise. If they don't pay, they release and resell those cabins at a decent discount. Of course, it's a gamble as you still might not get a cabin and then other holidays you have your eye on may have sold out. I know when we did a Caribbean cruise on the Azura back in 2011, my wife and I paid £1900 pp inc flights for an extended balcony cabin. Our friends booked the cabin next door and paid the same. Another couple of our friends tried to book a few weeks later but they were sold out. They tried again later on in the year and got an actual suite with a personal cabin attendant, canape's every night, free dry cleaning and laundry, priority for the on-board specialty restaurants and their own dedicated breakfast restaurant only for those with suites. Their suite was massive with a separate lounge and kitchen. They paid......£1900 pp, the same as us! Oh how they laughed..... Luckily, they were not breakfast people and were in the Gym in the morning or running round the deck so us and the other couple took turns to use their pass for breakfast each morning.

yep timing on booking any holiday can make a big difference in price one im just back from booked 3 weeks before we went cost us £ 2772 . The couple next to us at pool saying what a bargain they got at £3900 for same holiday didnt have the heart to tell them

Am I alone in not actually liking holidays? We used to once, but honestly I was usually counting down the days until we could go home. We put a lot of effort into moving to a nice area of the country, so don't really feel the need to escape from anything. I guess it's different if you live in a city and can't see the sky. We sometimes go on local-ish wanders at a weekend.

Can't stand hot weather, baking skin cancer into my skin and don't enjoy public transport, especially not planes. Have had all our luggage lost before, not a positive experience, we let our passports lapse after this and haven't been bothered since. We weren't traumatised, but this was the trigger that made us wonder why we do it, and we both agreed we found it more hassle than enjoyment, even if you do get your suitcase back.
