How Much Discount?

Just bought travel insurance. I had a discount code but when I put it in, it didn't give 15% off.

So I rang the company.

Oh yeah, she said, it only gives 15% off the quote part, not the medical screening aspect.

So, on a quote of £810, my 15% discount got me £73 off.

As I told the girl on the phone, it sounds very misleading.

I would expect it to be 15% off the total quote.

The ASA are pretty good at clamping down on dodgy practices.

KwikFit appear to have a good offer on Michelin CrossClimate 2 tyres. 15% off 4 tyres. But hang on...there is a crafty star. And it is not easy to find what the get-out clause is on their website. When you go to checkout, you get: But that is not 15%. Why isn't it clearer what the "*"...

Some people are numerically challenged. They may, incorrectly, believe that they are getting the best deal.

Consumer laws exist to protect us from firms that are less than honest.

Is the medical screening simply them asking you tell them which ailments you have? And did they mention that all people need to go through medical screening?

They ask you to declare if you have any conditions. If you do, you start typing and select from the list. Then you answer the questions they ask.

As far as I know, you only go through screening if you declare any conditions.
