Left-wingers hate Donald Trump but they are wrong as his Gaza deal shows

Donald Trump won’t become US President for a second time until his glitzy Washington inauguration on January 20 but he’s already chalked up a massive foreign policy success.
Israel and terror group Hamas are coming close to agreeing a deal that could see fighting in Gaza end for at least six weeks and hostages released.
And this is part of a pattern for Donald Trump. Left-wingers hate him but they’ve got it wrong - he’s a peacemaker who will make the world a safer place, including for us here in the UK.
There are still obstacles before the Gaza deal is finalised but an end to that horrific conflict looks more likely than at any point since the current hostilities began.
Outgoing US President Joe Biden attempted to take the credit but that really belongs to Mr Trump, who had warned that “all hell will break out” if hostages held by Hamas weren’t released before he returned to the White House.

Mr Trump is also said to have put pressure on Israel behind the scenes to agree a deal, even though he’s staunchly pro-Israel.

It’s typical of how he operates. He threatens hellfire and brimstone but the tough words are designed to get a deal, not to start a war.

There’s a stark contrast with previous Presidents. George W Bush joined forces with ex-UK Prime Minister Tony Blair to invade Iraq, causing chaos across the Middle East. And Barack Obama, the Democrat president beloved by left-wingers in the UK, waged war in Pakistan, Somalia and Yemen, launching 563 missile and drone strikes during his two terms in office.

There’s no reason to think US military action will cease entirely under Mr Trump’s leadership but he won’t be launching invasions or getting the US embroiled in any foreign conflicts if he can help it.

Trump is not some sort of pacifist or left-wing internationalist who thinks the United Nations should settle everything. Quite the opposite.

He’s a ruthless American patriot who puts US interests first. But that’s why he opposes sending US soldiers overseas to die, and opposes spending billions of US dollars on conflicts in other countries.

And Donald Trump proved himself a peacemaker last time he served as President, between 2017 and 2021, when he oversaw the Abraham Accords - peace deals between Israel and the United Arab Emirates and Israel and Bahrain.

His next big challenge is ending the war in Ukraine. The US has spent £65 billion so far helping Ukraine fight off Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s invasion, and he wants to turn off the tap.

Again, he wants a deal - this time between Ukraine and Russia.

That makes some in the west nervous, because it probably means Mr Putin will be allowed to keep some of the territory his armed forces seized in their bloody invasion.

But Trump’s pick for Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, argues that those who oppose any compromise with Russia have “never been clear about how this conflict will end.” At least a deal will end the slaughter.

We in the UK should welcome the return of President Trump. The world becomes a safer place with him in the White House.

looks like he has calmed this site down as well none of the usual lot have been on yet in nearly 15 mins

I am relieved. The US has to have a strong leader otherwise everything else goes to sh*t as witnessed over the last few years in Israel and elsewhere. I'm not blaming Israel, I'm saying a weak US has consequences.

You really are very easily conned.

Why do you think that is, have you always been so naive?

This thread is a perfect example of how people are taken in by right wing populism.

A certain type of person.

Soy munching liberals have had their go and fecked up just about everything they have touched. If you want to know what the world will look like if we let them continue, San Francisco is a great example of how a once great city can be reduced to chaos and squalour by liberal stupidity.

We need a strong leader. Not one who has his snout in the trough, and is only strong with people who write hurty things on social media.

Trump the anti-war president was always a myth

Let the record show: Trump poured fuel on our endless wars and kicked diplomacy to the curb.

Donald Trump’s Foreign Policy Will Be Chaos First, Not America First

His team of cronies includes establishment hawks and cranky outsiders who are more likely to deliver global anarchy than world peace

If we could actually get it, things would be better. However, usually it's promised and doesn't materialise - just more of the same dangerous liberal hogwash because it's easier than actually doing something to tackle the problem of libera/socialist self harm and self hate.

It’s actually an example of how someone can hate someone so much, that even when they do a good job you can’t see it.
Tell that to the anti labour right wing brexiteer delusional Palestinian hating nutjobs lurking on this site! ;)

Eight Trump Foreign Policy Disasters U.S. Voters Should Keep in Mind

It is well known that Americans prioritize economic and social issues when they go to the voting booth. But Donald Trump’s record of foreign policy failure deserves to be factored in more as voters cast their ballots
