Hi all,

I know there are a million posts like this but I just want some validation.

Am I right in saying it’s like for like & just a case of removing the link between L & 5?

& then within the thermostat I can just stick yellow & red together in a Wago within a junction box & bury it in the wall to avoid meddling with the wiring centre?

Not sure you can bury in the wall unless a maintenance free junction box?
They could bury it in the wall within a maintenance free junction box, as long as the path of the cable is still within a recognised 'prescribed zone'.
If there are no other outlets/switches/or evidence of the cable path, the easiest way to mark the junctions position, is with a blanking plate - in which case, there's no need for a maintenance free box! :)
