So after 9 years of putting up with a small miserable little light in my garage I’ve bought 2 led batten lights. After doing some research it would seem my current light rose fitting has a loop in it. 2 wires coming in. 1 light and a switch at either side of the room.. I am thinking change the rose to a junction box then run a wire to one light and then daisy chain of that light to another light ? Does this sound sensible/ safe?

Any advice much appreciated. Plus what junction box to use

Thanks
Tom

Use wagos in the jb to ensure the wiring in the rose is grouped as before

It did cross my mind just using the old rose and running the wire out the back. I guess I’d just connect it where the wire for the bulb would be but instead run a wire to the led batten.

Sounds like a plan then I could daisy chain off that light to the other. Jobs done. In terms of wire to use 3 core what kinda size?

Stupid question Incoming but what’s the difference between using solid core wire and stranded wire? From the rose to the led battens ?

Fair enough I did research and couldn’t see any difference apart from ones more bend but thought I’d ask. Thanks again guys.

You wouldn't want a solid core cable coming through the hole in the lid of a ceiling rose to the light fitting, You would use 3 core flex for this part.
If you came out the back of the ceiling rose, then you could use solid core cable.
