Ukraine counter offensive

No

Putin would’ve backed off

Had USA / NATO Threatened Putin back in Feb 2022 he wouldn’t have invaded at all.

We'll never know. Some in NATO thought the threat of nukes was real.

It is truly frightening to think we have political parties, organisations and groups that over recent years have supported a reduction in all things defence. Living in some sort of fantasy land that if something serious were to kick off on our shores, it could all be resolved with cosy chats around the negotiating table. Reduce our armed forces, do away with our nuclear deterrent, we'll sort any issues with cake and a cuppa.

Now here we are, the situation laid bare by Trump and Musk, that the EU and UK need to step up in terms of our spending and ensuring our own countries are adequately defended. Something we should have been doing all along.

And Starmer seems to think that doing nothing about increased defence spending is showing a firm stand against American pressure.

Now now, he's not doing nothing. I'm sure there's a task force set up to look at all of this.

Expect the 10,000 page report with 50 recommendations (none of which will be implemented) to be published around 2040.

He's definitely got his thinking wrong on this.

Unless of course its a tactic to get Putin around the table and then change the game.
This is what you don't know with Trump, certainly with some things. Is there method in his madness, or is it simply madness. Now of course, the Trump haters are always quick to say the latter, however I'm not convinced.

What, a bit like Egypt and Jordan meeting to discuss means to eradicate Hamas. Nah, Trump couldn't be that clever. ;)
