Ukraine counter offensive

No

Putin would’ve backed off

Had USA / NATO Threatened Putin back in Feb 2022 he wouldn’t have invaded at all.
Not just 2022, 2014 first. NATO should have kicked the Russians out of Crimea, which was agreed as part of Ukraine by Russia, among others. At the time Putin said "They're not Russian soldiers invading Crimea, anybody can buy a Russian army uniform". so he could hardly complain. And in 2022 if NATO had put troops in Ukraine when Russians had massed over the border, the invasion would not have happened. NATO have blood on their hands.

I agree

NATO had plenty of warning about the build up to the invasion in 2022, they knew months previously

had we shown strength before it started it wouldnt have happened

mind you Putin has been building up to this for 15 years, he has been getting Europe hooked on cheap oil and gas and has made London and across the West hooked on Oligarch money

the Ukraine war was a result of the West turning a blind eye and hoping for the best

Ukraine - Not a NATO member, not really NATOs remit. I'm surprised the west has funded Ukraine as much as they did. Of course keeping Russia pinned down is a useful thing. I had hoped Ukraine would win, but they haven't been able to.

But NATO among others guaranteed Ukraine's borders. Can't remember who else without checkibg.

had the West provided the equipment and money early on instead of drip feeding it, Russia wouldnt have been able to build defences across Danbas and dig in

the reason Russia advance last year was because the republicans stalled for so long on approving aid

Why are you surprised the West has funded Ukraine as much as they have............Putin starting a war in Europe is an existential threat

NATO Secretary General giving press conference now re Ukraine. Also speaking on EUs plans re increase in defence spending.

I can see why it was done, I'm just surprised they spent so much.

You could argue that our European neighbours should have done a bit more early on.

The moment Putin put out that video of him staring at the camera and saying anyone who tries to stop me better watch out was when something should have been done.

NATO Secretary General admitting EU not paying their way, agrees with stance USA is taking on this re EU needs to pay their way.

was Trumps approach a cunning way to scare the EU in to acting? Seems it might work.

US Defence Secretary says US will no longer be taken as 'suckers' on this, EU needs to up spending not to 3%, not 4%, more like 5%.

Just for context, US spends 3.4%

During the Cold War we spent 4%
