I have no input into what the Ukraine people do. The fact that they know they have been invaded and are still fighting suggests that they are interested in defending what they believe in.
I repeat again, they are not trying to win, they are just defending themselves. How long they can hold on for, or are prepared to, is totally down to them. But with support supplied to them, for them to use, gives them hope and pride.
I am not saying they should or should not fight on. But if Uk was invaded by Russia, or anybody else would you just give in, or fight, and die if unlucky, for the life you want for your family?
It's all it is. A fight for survival of their way of life.
But, take this war a stage further. Watch USA weaken nato further and wonder where we are then? Do you think we could rely fully on USA upholding the basic nato principle? Or listen to Trump saying just give in?
It's a tough choice, for them, not me. If I'm asked if my taxes can be spent on defence, I say yes. The only real question is, where and when does that defence start?
Not to mention the funding.

It's a Trump popularity thing. His dumb fawning acolytes think he's the greatest deal-maker ever, so he has to be seen to be getting something in return for this great US intervention. It's more of a provocative bargaining chip, used to prick the ears of his mate Putin.

The US isn't innocent in all this. It fecked around in 2014 and regime changed Ukraine's democratically elected President because he was pro Russian. It fecked around again under Biden and his clan's dealings with Burisma. NATO has been encroaching nearer and nearer to Russia since the 90s. And no, I'm not apologising for Putin's behaviour. I'm saying there are no parties involved who are saints. One way or another, they have helped to poke the bear.

You do understand how and why nato was started? It was the eastern defence of the usa basically. You don't think they should share some of the costs? If they don't want nato, just work out where it leaves us, but until Trump, every previous president, either republican or democrat has wanted and understood the benefits of nato. Look how many times we have jumped when we have been told to.
