Yes, has been my worry when riding the canal tow-path, any problem, be it a battery or a puncture, how do I get back?
My mobility scooter was my mothers. And it was too fast to keep up walking, and too slow to ride a bike with. I carry an aerosol to help with punchers, plus a normal puncher outfit. The motor is in the hub, so will still drive with no chain, and if battery flat I can peddle. But I don't go out if there is no one who can pick me up in a car. Even if it means half mile or so to get to where a car can go.
The scooter does auto brake over around 4 MPH, had same problem with electric wheelchair, the winch in the car was too fast, and the wheelchair brake would engage. I have wondered if one can travel in the scooter in the car, like we did with the wheelchair, had a seat belt for wheelchair user, and anchor points to tie the wheelchair down, but not seen any tie down points on the mobility scooter? That car gone now anyway.
But I have run out of battery with the e-bike, never with the mobility scooter. I have considered carrying a second battery with the e-bike, 12 Ah at 48 volts is the same as 24 Ah at 24 volts, and the existing battery is 36 Ah, so seems unlikely I would ever run out of battery.
My original Rascal, was my original partners, who passed away. It sat unloved in the hut for years, even by hers - until I found it useful, and had to buy it a set of new batteries. I found it so useful. I decided to buy something a bit bigger, the Gravis Class 3, I bought. Running out of battery, was/has been a concern of mine. The Gravis has a boot, and a Lithium battery is an option, which simply (strange idea) plugs in, in the boot, in place of the LA, located underneath the boot. No obvious reason why both couldn't be in place, and just swap to the other, if the first runs out.
Most likely failures, are puncture, or battery running out. I put one of those emergency sealant kits in, but nowt much can be done about battery, unless you can carry a small spare. My only plan is to abandon it at a safe house, make my way home, then go back to pick it up with my trailer later. I know it will fit, because I brought it home 70 miles, on the trailer.
You are lucky to live in Wales (never thought that I would say that). Most E-bikes on TFL trains are banned.

There is a veranda, so e-bike remains on the veranda outside. But after all I have done for the railway, unlikely they would object. I use it at the railway doing car park duty. Also, a ban on non-folding e-bikes will not affect me as mine does fold.
The 20 isn't the volts, it's the ah. 12 volt x 20 ah x 5 = 1200 Wh
volts times amps = watt, not Wh.
The amps, is amp hours, so the result is watt-hours.
That's right, I agree with your 1200 Wh.

Amps and amp hours are not the same.
Hopefully you can see from all the confusion that has arisen from you using A when you meant Ah how important it is to use the right units at all times.
If you mean me, then I did use the correct terms..
You did. It was big-all who introduced the confusion, by talking about 'amps' when he/she should have written Ah ...

But back in the real world, if my e-bike will do 25 miles on one battery, and the nickel batteries are not really heavy, so with two likely will do 50 miles. But the lead acid in the scooter is heavy, so double up on the 35 Ah battery which is also good for 25 miles, and total likely 45 miles due to weight of battery.
Remember, e-bikes and mobility scooters don't in general have regenerative braking. So canal tow-path (flat) may be 25 miles, but in our Welsh roads, my e-bike will just about do 16 miles to Welshpool and back. I would not dare to ride a mobility scooter to Welshpool, not so keen riding my e-bike. Bit like having a death wish, so on the train, bikes can stay on the veranda and as far as fire
