Need A Multitool...

A similar one I've seen has non-toothed chisel-like blades, and hammers in and out on an SDS drill on roto-stop.

Works well on aircrete. Less well on brick. 'kin useless on breeze block (although to be fair, everything is).

Probably for any material that would work on you could just as well make 4 cuts with a normal flat blade.

The AH rating is the working time between charges so find the best for your available money.
Dont be afraid to look beyond Screwfix etc as there are often better deals to be found.
The Flexvolt variety can give more AH but not on 18v tools
with the flexvolt the 54v is only at 1/3 the ah off the batteries as the 3x 2ah groups in series give you 54v at 2 amp but in parallel will give you 18v 6amp so the 18v does give you greater ah but the energy contained is the same

easy way to remember volts = the engine size and power
amps = fuel capacity so bigger the engine faster the fuel tank empties but the energy value is still the same the only difference is any losses through conversion which in general will be very small in the difference between the same battery and 18v tools over the 54v tools

not sure how exactly they would work as the blade or box section in this case is oscillating/rotating by perhaps 3mm more than the cutter size so unless the box cutter is undersized it will cut an oversized hole
and the teeth by there action will spend as much time going side to side as cutting into the board

My thoughts too, and so quick and easy with a standard flat blade.

is this just the wall unit wood panel - Or brickwork etc

I use saxtonblades for multitool blades - they have a kit , which i have used ALL the blades over a lot of DIY jobs and also purchased them seperately

i think there is only one not used , as its very very small when mounted the bottom r/h/s semi / half circle
Its to cut a slot in the 18mm carcass right next to the back panel for this repair project

Can someone recommend where to get cheap blades for the dewalt apart from saxon.
I say cheap because whenever I buy an expensive blade for other kit I always end up using it longer than I should and beyond its useful accurate life because it was so expensive. I would rather buy cheap and throw away in turn for a new fresh one on every job if need be.

Ebay Amazon Aliexpress is my choice and you can verify the fit before you commit.
Multi tools are often used on existing structures rather than new material so the likelihood of hidden screws and masonry is greater.
Id rather wreck a cheap blade than shorten the life of a bimetal one.
Blunt blades can then be repurposed for custom applications.

Looking at all the blades available its a whole new world of solutions for jobs. Thinking now of all the jobs I have done in the last 10 years that one of these tools would of made my life easier. I like the look of the scraper blades.
Do anyone have their go-to blade for most jobs. Course or fine blade for all wood ? I am thinking this is not a tool for second fix perfect work so a course blade perhaps for everything. ?

i have purchased cheap in the past and the blades dont last at all , and work out more expensive in the end - at least thats my experience

hve you thought about the overall cost ... cheap v a slightly more expensive blade
i did use it a lot at the beginning and blades i purchased cheap , just went blunt and i found i was using loads.. JUST A THOUGHT

i found dewalt blades did not last at all ...... really disappointed in that make - mainly cutting wood - oak and softwood
also doing channelling for electric back boxes

As an example. Say I brought an expensive 1mm steel cutting angle grinder disk that does not wear down as quick as a cheap one, I end up using it longer than I should because its starting to disintegrate but cost a lot. But if I use a cheap one it wears down before it starts to disintegrate.
Interesting what you say about the dewalt blades. So which ones do you buy from where.

I believe the open ended are universal - they fit my old CEL.
Theres adaptor
I find the 30 mm straight does most things I need.
Wider ones are tougher on the little 1.2a batteries it has.

now almost exclusively saxtonblades
if not sure i call them , they are so helpful and suggest the correct blade for a job - like the heavy metail for cutting some chrome pipework (but now i just use a pipe cutter ) and also the carbide blades for when i was doing a lot of electrical prep
various different blades depending on the job - I have a few of there heavy metal blades for cutting pipework and some metal fence posts i put up - sure i have done other things

heavy duty metal blades
the carbide tiped blades - straight and the 90mm semi circle
lots of the various sizes for wood

to be honest , if i'm not sure i call them and say what i want to use the blade for and they then often suggest various options
But i started out with the kit , i posted earlier

i think i got some dewalt titanium blades for a job - on offer at screwfix or toolstation and very disappointed - cant rememeber now

Great thanks. Just brought the Dewalt one from tool station for collection.
Quest is now on for blades now, I have brought circular blades from saxon before and have found them to be good.
