Old House and key meter.

I agree, but then I have to be honest and say My shed still has one with plug-in MCB's with RCD at the sockets.
I had one in service until fairly recently (and they were so much 'better made' than anything 'modern'), and I imagine that there are still a very substantial number still in service.

Thanks guys, going to get a qualled local to sort it out. At least its not a full rewire.

Hopefully not, but if the consumer units are that old, then there's no telling what else in the installation might need 'attention' (aka probably replacement)!

I have attended similar installations and would be ready for some rewiring or remedial work.

At the very least, you will want to replace the board(s), add sockets, possibly upgrade PEBs to gas, water, etc...

Maybe you will need to rewire lighting that has no earth, add circuits to outhouses etc...

Both of those have plastic backs, the units I was purchasing in mid 80's had a simple wooden frame. Effectively I'm saying those date from ~20 to 30 years after lighting circuits required earthwires. It looks like all cables are white so I imagine all date from post 1960's

The house I'm in now I replaced the old fusebox with an 8 way Wylex and that was a while after Nov 1994, additionally the previously mentioned shed is running on a repurposed 3way version.
