What have you been doing today?

Went to Sheringham country park today. Took the bikes and had a good ride all round the place. Then went to the seafront. Windy again. Despite that, I took a chance and sent the drone up for a quick video. Got the low battery warning so brought it back, pronto. I didn’t fancy a dip in that sea!

I'm really going to have to get one of those.
Is it the dji mini 4k you're using?

We have a couple of those hanging flower basket things, one either side of the front door, on metal brackets. It is now my fifth attempt to make the left-hand one's bracket, stay fixed. I try to avoid drilling bricks, where possible, using the mortar joints, for fixings - they are easier to restore with a bit of mortar. Problem is, the left one is near the corner, adjoining the drive, and we get some terrific winds blowing up the drive. The soil laden, heavy baskets, then start swinging, tearing the bracket sideways.

My first attempt, pulled a chunk of mortar out, then I hammered a timber wedge in, with a 2.5 inch #12 screw, that ripped out, I then tried an even bigger wedge, when that ripped out, I welded a bit of horizontal steel to the bracket. That managed to survive longest, but even that, came down in the last gale.

Earlier in the week, we did some cementing, so a bit of it was used to repoint the hole, pushed well in. Today, I drilled it, refixed it, and gave some thought to how to control the swinging in the strong winds. I thought of perhaps tieing the left-hand one, to the right-hand one, with fishing line, but ended up tieing them down to some trellis below, either side of the door.

Remarkably steady, I thought the drone would have been all over the place in even a light wind.
Because it relies on GPS, it is steady in winds up to about 25mph. You can hear it fighting the wind though as the props speed up and keep it on track.

The footage you've posted has definitely made my mind up for me.
I cannot believe how steady that is, even though you said it was quite blustery.
I'll tell the Mrs that a client gave me it cheap as part payment for a job. ;)
I say that all the time to my Mrs, then she gives me a look of disbelief as I am not self employed.

Don't think GPS would be quick enough to make minor adjustments to counter gusts, might be a built in gyro or something. Whatever, very impressive.

I get the same looks of disbelief all the time.
She knows, I know she knows, she knows I know she knows, but without proof.....
Meh.

Yes, that’s probably it. Even though it does rock about a bit in gusts, I think the gimbal for the camera keeps it locked on target so the video isn’t too wobbly.

It does actually use GPS for locking for its position and for take off and landing points
