Ssssssshhhhhh, don't mention Reform.

They brought it on themselves. Decline to apply the irrelevant outdated document. The situation is different. Document wasn't created to cover this.

Decline to accept that it appllies.
We signed something? Well guess what, we changed our mind.

These people are not "fair dealing" they are "gaming". They deserve no recourse to normal rules or rights or standards.
Put that in a law.
Sorted.
Notchy uses the word distress. He pretends that the illegal immigrant boat is not in distress while in French waters, but suddenly becomes in distress if it is turned around or able to enter UK waters.

its nonsense of course. If I ask you are you in distress, do you need help? If you answer NO, and I advise you are not permitted to enter UK waters, you have the option of turning around, changing your mind or defying my authority. I have the power to use the necessary steps to prevent you from entering. Its is qualified only by the word necessary, it does not prevent the use of necessary force.

I accept he did say those words, albeit he was interrupted from finishing what he was saying on it.

I repeat my apology to Diynot.
He was attempting to deflect from the reality of the situation, however the crowd were quite rightly not buying it.

It is no wonder folk are being drawn to Reform. Would they be any better in power? Probably not, could well be worse. However folk are getting increasingly fed up with the rhetoric spilling from the mouths of Labour, Tories and to a certain extent the SNP up here. We get fed the same bull and see very little actual ACTION. So where is there for the electorate to turn?

They keep on trying to tell us illegal immigration ain't that big a deal. They are completely misreading the feelings of much of the public.

This is my neighbour

Let's face it, whether they (Reform leaders) actually like it or not, their party is going to attract a certain type of person whether candidates and/or party members. And no, that's not to say all Reform are tarred with that brush, however it's the natural home for folk with such views.

Border Force cant take steps to prevent from entering.

you cant force a boat to turn around in French waters from English waters

please explain where the border between French and English territorial waters is, on this image:

Darren Jones is usually pretty good at answering a straight question with a straight answer

that was woeful from him

as you say, he took himself down a rabbit hole -lack of experience Id say.

the problem with actual action is there arent really any obvious solutions -the real solution would be to stop migrants getting across from North coast of Africa through Lampedusa and across the med into Greece etc

I know EU Frontex are trying to work in places like Tunisia and Libya to stop the migrants

You make the incorrect assumption that they may not take action until the boat has reached U.K. territorial waters. There is no such restriction.

What changed in 2018?

Small boats

  • The number of asylum seekers arriving in small boats across the Channel has increased in recent years, from being a route which was almost never used prior to 2018. Between then and December 2024, around 157,000 people arrived in small boats, 95% of whom applied for asylum.
  • These individuals accounted for nearly one third (29%) of the total number of people who applied for asylum in the UK between 2018 and 2024.

Better security at the ferry and train terminals.

That you are talking nonsense. I’ve known for a while.
you think if this boat is forcibly pushed back or turned around it wont be in distress: :ROFLMAO:

by the way, where is the border between French and English waters in this pic................you seem reluctant to answer

Answer to first question - yes. Answer to previous question. It doesn’t matter. It can be close or near to the border for the purpose of communicating.

Nothing prevents the necessary action to occur inside the state’s territorial waters. You do need to read the whole of article 25.
