Been chopping up garden waste most of the day. Mrs S did loads of hedge trimming a week or two ago.
We have loads of roses, hawthorn and hazel that the squirrels plant and they grow up through the hedge and we had let them grow, so we cut them out and trimmed the hedges too.
We left all the waste on a small patio that was left when we got rid of an old greenhouse, but tomorrow we take delivery of some new timber garden furniture which we want to put there.
So it was all hands on deck tonight to finish off. Trouble is, while we have two green bins, Stockport, like many councils, have introduced a fee for green waste, £59 pa, and we only bought one label, so can only put one green bin out every week. So although it takes me longer, I chop everything up really small so I get more in the bin.
I'd like to get a garden mincer, but the proper decent ones are not pocket money.

Just get an old and sturdy mower, and go over the clippings with that.
It'll reduce them down and, if it has a grass box or bag, pick them up for you too.

Now that I'm definitely not going back to work, I thought I suppose I should sell the van, but I couldn't quite bring myself to do it, she's a great van and we've been through a lot together. So I made the decision several weeks ago to convert it into a campervan.
This is her before I started clearing her out, she's normally a lot tidier than this but I chucked stuff from the garage in there while I sorted out the garage, also I'd not washed her for 9 months because of the hip replacement.
Nice project to get my teeth into, and a bit of a challenge.
All being well, solar panel going on the roof today.

A couple of mates have converted transit vans to campers. They’ve made nice jobs too.
I don’t the the ability to do wood work. I’m a little bit rough.
Plasterer and decorator by trade but did pretty much everything except plumbing and electrics. Did a lot of full refurbs and worked with two plumbers on bathrooms.
i'll be doing all the cabinet work on the van, most of it is about having the kit, a decent track saw is probably the best bit of kit you could possibly own..
If this works out I'll flog it next year and get a high top. Got a budget of 3K but might over run if we add windows and go for revolving passenger seats, for the first time in a little while I'm quite excited.
