Just let them come ashore? Would it not be better to stop them leaving France?Don't pick them up in the first place.
No passport or papers is an automatic refusal.
Only if they survive the journey and then we will be waiting for them on the shore to take them to proper detention centres.Just let them come ashore?

No. I am saying anyone we let in knowing absolutely nothing about has the potential. We just don’t know and that’s why we have passport control at all legal entry points to the U.K. If we are letting thousands of people in unchecked and know nothing of theirs whereabouts at all times while they are waiting for an asylum decision, we may just as well do away with the passport booths at airports and ports and just let anyone in who wants to come in.Just to clarify. Are you saying that everyone we let in knowing absolutely nothing about is a savage in your eyes.
Taken somewhere and kept there until a decision is made. Not left to roam free.So what should happen when they are picked up in the channel?

There are limited exceptions, such as their home country not issuing documents.I don't think that can be true. Do you have a reference?

Would it not be better to stop them leaving France than having to find solutions once they are here?Taken somewhere and kept there until a decision is made. Not left to roam free.

Chicken or egg - dont pick them up - if they survive take them to proper detention camps house them in tents do not allow them to leave -give them basic sustenance and there will be no one leaving France in a dinghy in the first place.Would it not be better to stop them leaving France than having to find solutions once they are here?

"Mandatory refusal
When a person fails to produce a recognised passport or travel document which satisfies you of their identity and nationality you must refuse permission to enter under paragraph 9.15.1 of Part 9 of the Immigration Rules unless an exception to the requirement to produce a passport or travel document on arrival, or a general exception, applies. This provision also applies where the person produces a passport or travel document but it is forged or fraudulently obtained, or the person is not the rightful holder. In such a case you must also consider whether to refuse on grounds of false representations. For further information, see False representations guidance"
dont pick them up - if they survive

Course there will. They are risking their lives anyway, the threat of detention means nothing.and there will be no one leaving France in a dinghy in the first place.
They haven’t been askedThe British public wouldn't accept it.
It doesn’t seem to bother the French, how many do the French "rescue" before they reach the UK waters borderline and take them back to France. Its got so nuts now that the the boat people only bother providing enough fuel for the engines to get to UK waters.Even Trump doesn't leave people to drown.
We can't let people drown in British waters.
