To all those that welcome/encourage the small boat migrants.

Right - someone did a FOI and this was the reply
All asylum seekers are housed in accommodation that meets their basic needs only. If a hotel is used to house asylum seekers, the services and facilities it previously offered will therefore change, and its commercial star rating will cease to apply. As such, those ratings are not routinely recorded by the Home Office.
That makes sense.

Thanks, that's very interesting. So really all this four star stuff is boll@x.

There must be some in France

Let's take France, as that is the most obvious example. I honestly have no idea how somebody would go about getting a visa, but would be happy to work through it. Presumably, there is a UK embassy in Paris and then a couple of consulates dotted around major cities. Say somebody is a genuine refugee who has fled their country but has somehow managed to have all the correct documents. What might be the process for getting a UK tourist visa from the UK embassy in Paris. How feasible is it.

Technically yes but its a sneaky underhand way of hiding the hotels star rating from the public. So migrants are staying in former 4 star hotels then

I agree with that. But a lot of the four star rating comes from the services and facilities provided by the hotel. I doubt they will have room service and use of the spa etc. They are not living in luxury, as many on the right claim. More Butlins than Claridges.

There’s many hardworking British families that can’t afford Butlins. Despite that, they still have enough spare cash to gamble with though. I don’t have spare cash to gamble with and I’ve worked and saved all my life. Do you? Once my money is gone, it’s gone.

Addicts would spend their entire income funding their habit, if they could. A pointless analogy and utterly pointless in context with the thread.

The post was in reply to the Butlins comment. This thread is not about gambling addicts. Your post is pointless and not in context with the thread. Stop excusing the behaviour of poncing asylum seekers.

I want to ask a question about pre-Brexit because I can't remember what the rules were. If somebody had got into the EU illegally, what would have stopped them travelling to the UK on a plane and then claiming asylum.

I am not sure that can be true. From previous posts, you seem to have worked hard and been successful in life. I would be surprised if you didn't have a small amount available to spend on gambling if you really wanted to. Most of these people only get £9.95 per week on these cards so we're not talking about large sums.
