Hi All

My new Xtrail has been delivered and as expected it has no spare wheel, only the tyre sealant
The boot has space for a spare wheel as the hole is used by the sound system woofer which can be removed easily enough.
But how do I calculate size of space saver?
The Xtrail comes in several wheel sizes. Mine is 19" and my previous car had 18" wheels with a space saver size J17x4T.
The wheel stud configuration can also change.

What figures do I need to confirm before I buy?

Cheers

Doug

This is where I’ll be getting my spare wheel for our Tucson when we get it in September.

Get the maximum axle weight (whichever is the highest - front or rear) off the compliance label and halve it. That needs to be the minimum load rating for your spacesaver (both the wheel and the tyre). You'll need the stud PCD and diameter as well as the centre nave diameter so that the wheel will fit your hub, and you need the recesses in the wheel to be compatible with your wheel nut design. You'll probably want the offset to be similar to that of the full-sized wheel. There will be an "ET" number on the inside of one of the normal wheels.

After that, you just have to hope it doesn't have any nasty handling characteristics on a space-saver. It might put an ABS warning light on if the rolling circumference is too different to the original wheel.

Obviously, you'll need to tell your insurer too!
