• Looking for a smarter way to manage your heating this winter? We’ve been testing the new Aqara Radiator Thermostat W600 to see how quiet, accurate and easy it is to use around the home. Click here read our review.

What have you been doing today?

Been eying up my allotment neighbours plums today. (ooh err Matron). I’ve never seen so many plums on a tree and they are not all single plums, there are dozens of bunches of plums - they look like bunches of giant grapes. She's a sharer so hopefully some will be coming my way.

Booked a Motorcycle trip in Spain for November with 5 of my mates. Mainly off-roading so should be fun. We went with the same company about 4 years ago and that was a good laugh too until one pillock lost his remote fob (luckily the bike was running when he discovered it missing) and then hit a tree when off-roading, went over and stalled the bike meaning we had to wait a good few hours for a spare key to be run out to us as we couldn’t restart the bike. He's not coming this time, thank f'ck!

the picture of that bridge - I sometimes have a few beers with a spanish bloke from that town - Rhonda - apparently they chucked vast amounts of political prisoners off that bridge in the spannish civil war - the book/film "For whom the bell tolls" i am sure you will have heard of it

hottest day of the year here - we hit 29.0 in that heatwave mid june - got to 29.1 today - we're fair cooked

It's cooler than forecast here due to more cloud. Only 24.5. But 32 degrees predicted for tomorrow.

I’ve heard of it, don’t think I’ve seen it though.

A few days near Canterbury for a family wedding. Nice breakfast, but the look of absolute terror on one old guys face when I greeted him with a cheery "good morning" was a wonder to behold. Made our morning.

I've posted this before, but it is so apt,

A relatively comfortable 23.1C here, indoors, but outside is 30.3C. 23.1C, because I took the precaution of opening the upstairs windows last night, front and rear, and this morning I drew the blinds on the sun facing side, to reduce heat-gain.

OMG, 30.3 already! We are somewhat to the west of you, I believe. Only 24.5 here so far despite no clouds, and it is very pleasant outside. A high of 32 was predicted, though. It's funny how it can vary so much over a relatively short distance. I've noticed before how we seem to be in a weird spot here for temperatures. Almost like a micro climate.

and we probably have another couple of hours to top that - jeez its hot

I've just had a look on the map. You are right on the border!

It's a very strange weather pattern today. The East is really hot but the South is pretty cool.

just 2 mile north - often pop over on the push bike, probably do so this evening when it gets cooler - as long as I get back over the border before its dark - north northumberland is nice but I wouldn't risk it after the suns gone dwn - its england after all!

Mottie...i know I've mentioned it before. Have you tried the Sportage?

You could play one brand off against the other!

And then whatever car you buy, there's the old trick of going in at the end of the month. You'll be more likely to be able to haggle a discount if they want the extra sale before the end of the month. You might save a few notes.

It doesn't work anymore, but in the old days, my Dad used to go into a showroom with an old attaché case full of notes and start, "How much for that one over there?"

The salesman would quote the usual OTR price, then he'd slap the case on the desk, clunk, clunk, and say "And how much for cash?" And the salesman's eyes were a sight to behold!

He was what I call a "now now now" bloke and usually walked in with a wad of notes and walked out with a car.

He also used to get to choose from the list of reg's available. In 1982 he chose YRJ 345Y for him and BVM 654Y for his second wife.
